Kingswood School in Bath is celebrating the achievements of two of its current Sixth Formers.
Year 13 student and member of the PR team, Rory, has been awarded a scholarship by the British Army as part of the Army Officer Scholarship Scheme. Scarlett, a Year 12 student, has been awarded an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship after a written application, examination and interview presenting her plans to run ‘Girls in STEM’ activities next term. She has been paired with The Royal Air force as her sponsor.
“I am delighted that Scarlett’s passion for and commitment to the sciences has been recognised in this prestigious award,” said Headmaster, Mr Andrew Gordon-Brown. “We are blessed at Kingswood to have a great gender balance of teachers of STEM and this is reflected in the pupil uptake of Science, Maths and Computer Science. Scarlett is a wonderful role model who is leading the way.
“Rory is a young man possessing exceptional leadership potential and I am thrilled that this has been recognised in the award of an Army Officer sixth form scholarship. To say that his was a competitive process would be an understatement and it is a great feather in Rory’s cap that he has secured a place to train as an Army Officer at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, after his studies. Congratulations Rory.”
