Todo el Mundo – Languages for Everyone is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a Bath-based Spanish school. The popular school has successfully developed a thriving community of language enthusiasts of all ages, including group classes for adults at all levels, clubs for children, early years classes and private tuition.
“Looking back, it’s amazing to think that Todo el Mundo came from small beginnings as a term-time only school,” recalls owner and local mum of two, Katherine Mallia. “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last 10 years of classes. When we started out in February 2012, I was delivering classes at a primary school and a nursery. We are now a team of seven tutors running eight groups per week for adults (from beginner to advanced), as well as Spanish clubs at Bath primary schools and curriculum classes in three early years settings. We’ve also grown a large community of private tuition students of all ages working towards a variety of goals.
“We love seeing all the different faces in our classrooms – from little ones learning Spanish through play as their second language (or sometimes first!), to older children gaining confidence through speaking Spanish in front of their whole class. In addition, there’s also the brave and curious adults who are new to speaking Spanish or have learnt before but want to finally master the subjunctive.”
Katherine also reflects on the wonderful teachers who have come from all corners of the Spanish-speaking world to work with the children and adults in the classes. “This diversity has enriched and evolved Todo el Mundo, with each tutor bringing their own cultural experiences, new ideas and fresh enthusiasm. It is beautiful to witness how our students don’t just learn Spanish with their teachers – their stereotypes are challenged, empathy increases, new friendships formed and worlds are hugely widened too.
“The last 10 years of classes have been an incredible adventure. We want the next decade to be full of even more joy, learning Spanish and friendships for everyone in Bath and beyond!”
Todo El Mundo Spanish lessons take place at a range of venues across Bath, including New Oriel Hall (Larkhall), Bath Academy, Saltford Primary, St Saviours Schools, Widcombe Schools, Swainswick Primary School, Hopscotch Nursery, The Garden Nursery and Home from Home Childminders.
