Pupils from Pitton CE Primary School in Wiltshire have won the Song For Christmas competition, arranged by Salisbury Radio. Pitton Primary competed with 16 other schools, discovering their success on Christmas Eve.
“The whole school participated and the achievement was enriched by the fact that we were the only school to record the entry ourselves,” said headteacher Emma Wilkinson. “This was only achievable thanks to one of our KS2 teachers, Mr Russell and his recording knowledge!
“We were even able to provide our own instrumental with another of our teachers, Mrs Guymer, accompanying the song on her flute. One of our pupils, Amelia, recorded the solo which we are told was one of the features that convinced the judges to score the song so highly.
“We were incredibly pleased to win £200 worth of book tokens and a trophy that is now displayed proudly in the school. Plans are already in place for our 2023 entry so watch this space!”
Pitton is a small Church of England school set in the scenic village of Pitton, Salisbury. “Here at Pitton, we believe ‘small school, big ideas’ which is something we put into practice daily,” added Emma. “From being featured on the BBC’s The One Show thanks to our environmental efforts, to holding whole school Quidditch days and scooter workshops, there is always something going on.”
