The Bath Young Inventor of the Year Award is back, returning to the city after a COVID-inspired break and ready to inspire a whole new group of young inventors to show their skills.
Beginning over the February half term holiday and open for entries from 16th February to 25th June, a free entry pack can be picked up from 44AD artspace at 4 Abbey Street between 12pm and 4pm any day from February 14th.
A launch party will also take place on Thursday 16 February at 44AD artspace from 5pm to 7pm, with all families welcome. During that party, Professor Tony Miles, the chair of judges, will give an short inspirational chat about inventions and we will hand out the application pack which will include tips, ideas and details of other associated activities throughout the Spring and Summer, such as free talks and support sessions at various locations around the city.
“We’re looking for all kinds of inventions and remember, improving existing inventions is often a good idea too,” said Paul Tomas, Chair of the organising group. “We’ve also had fun creating the Inventors of Bath Family Walking trail around the centre of the city. The trail guides you round highlighting sites associated with inventions and inventors. It will be available free at 44AD and other locations all Spring and Summer.
“In addition, throughout the Spring and Summer there will be more fun activities at The Museum of Bath at Work and 44AD artspace, culminating in a July exhibition of BYI award entries.”
