News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

St Margaret’s Prep was delighted to welcome children from local primary schools for a Lion King themed Creative Arts workshop called ‘Simba’.

Twenty children joined from schools in and around Calne, including St Edmund’s School, Fynamore School, Cherhill C of E School, Priestley School and Queen’s Crescent School in Chippenham.

Children enjoyed two workshops – one in the Art Room where they made African head masks and the other with the Music Team, where they rehearsed singing I Just Can’t Wait to be King, along with a performance on the African drums.  The evening culminated with a performance to parents – the children were thrilled to perform to their audience and delivered the song with great gusto!

Headmaster of Luke Bromwich closed the evening by saying, “At St Margaret’s we are committed to developing community partnerships and this is the first of many community events we are very much looking forward to hosting.”

In May, St Margaret’s will be running its next community event – a sports workshop called The Ultimate Challenge where children can enjoy sessions in Ultimate Frisbee and on the school’s climbing wall.

Alongside St Mary’s Calne, St Margaret’s also run a children’s community choir, The Major Minors, who meet every Monday. For more information about this, or The Ultimate Challenge, please contact email hidden; JavaScript is required
