News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

This September, Wiltshire’s domestic abuse charity FearLess is launching its first ever 24-hour Dance-A-Thon. The charity wants to bring families together to show the difference everyone can make by moving to the beats and having fun!

Happening from 29-30 September ( 2pm-2pm) at Cumberwell Park Golf Club in Bradford on Avon, the event will see live musicians perform, instructor led dance workshop including cheer leading, Zumba and 80’s aerobics and a children’s dance party on Saturday morning.

People can choose to attend for just an hour or for 24!

Head of Fundraising at FearLess, Jessica Gay, said, “As long as someone, anyone, is dancing throughout the 24 hours, we’ll succeed in our challenge – to have fun, get moving and to raise vital money and awareness to help families escaping domestic abuse.”

The children’s dance party will commence from 8:45am to 11am Saturday morning, and will see local dance school Groovy Movers and Samantha Jones Dance Academy leading dance workshops.

“By taking part, you’re helping us to break the cycle of abuse, something that affects 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men and 1 in 5 children during their lifetime,” explained Jessica. “Every year we help over 3,500 adults and children in Wiltshire who experience domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.

“We know the cost of living is affecting everyone right now, especially the families we help. We wanted to create a brand-new event that brought people together to have fun. It’s just £5 to sign up and we hope each person can try and raise at least £50 to support the families in our services, as they rebuild their lives free from abuse and fear.”
