Two local Wiltshire football teams are offering their grounds for picnics and family fun this August as part of a multi-agency initiative.
Warminster Town Football Club and Westbury United Football Club have joined forces with local organisations including Wiltshire Council, health and police partners to host free events from 11am to 2pm every week during August.
The pitches, which normally host competitive matches, will be open for fun activities for families. Attending the events will be professionals to offer advice and support. People can turn up without booking for the sessions.
The free events will take place on these dates and at the venues below:
- Thursday 3 August – 11am -2pm Warminster Football club
- Thursday 10 August – 11am -2pm Westbury Football Club
- Thursday 17 August – 11am -2pm Warminster Football Club
- Thursday 24 August – 11am -2pm Westbury Football Club
The summer sessions are the latest activities in a pilot project in Westbury and Warminster to help families who need it to navigate information, advice and support as early and easily as possible. Wiltshire Council, health partner Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board and Wiltshire Police are involved in the pilot called All Together. The partners work together under a Families and Children’s Transformation (FACT) banner. The pilot will also host online information and will be a precursor to the Family Hubs model which will start in April 2024 as agreed by Wiltshire Council leaders in June.
Tim Fry, Secretary at Warminster Town FC, said, “Warminster Town FC are extremely pleased to have this chance to share the facilities at the club and support Wiltshire Council with the Family Fun day event, it’s a great opportunity to build on the strong community spirit we have at the club and we hope all the families involved enjoy the day.”
