Castle Primary School’s recent ‘Good’ Ofsted report reflects the improvements the school has made over the last few years, stating that it is ‘a happy and safe place for pupils to learn’.
The Keynsham school’s Behaviour and Attitudes and Early Years Provision were rated ‘Outstanding’, while the quality of education, Personal development and Leadership and management were all said to be ‘Good’.
Pupils were commended for their exceptional behaviour. ‘They are polite to adults and their peers. Pupils behave impeccably at social times and in lessons. Older pupils provide strong role models for others. Pupils’ attitudes are exemplary. They are a credit to the school.’
Inspectors praised the school for creating a wide range of opportunities for pupils’ wider development. ‘Pupils’ know that judging others by background, gender or race is wrong. They have a clear sense of right and wrong. The school is successfully growing a community of responsible and kind young citizens.’
Ofsted were impressed with the parent community’s response to the visit, acknowledging that parents are exceptionally happy with the school. ‘They welcome the school’s caring and nurturing environment.’
Chris Cannings, Headteacher at Castle Primary, thanked the entire staff team and volunteers, some of whom are no longer part of the school, who have contributed to Castle Primary School’s improvement journey over the last five years.
“The report reflects the efforts of the children, staff and whole community, as well as the significant investment from St John’s Foundation in recent years,” he said. “We are pleased the local community has the school it deserves.
“Castle Primary School will continue to strive to ensure all pupils thrive and learn – every day.”
