Saint Gregory’s Catholic College has achieved accreditation by the British Council, receiving the International School Award for its outstanding work in developing its curriculum with an international focus.
The award was marked by Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, who attended the annual International School Award ceremony in Parliament where Saint Gregory’s Catholic College was celebrated by the British Council. Wera congratulated the school, which achieved accreditation in light of its excellent support for language education and commitment to incorporating international cultures into its curriculum.
The British Council’s International School Award encourages schools to prepare their students for work in the global economy by increasing their understanding of a multitude of cultures. They celebrate schools’ efforts to include international work in their curriculums and support schools which foster an international ethos.
“It was wonderful to celebrate the work of Saint Gregory’s Catholic College in Parliament,” said Wera. “They absolutely deserve this accreditation from the British Council for incorporating an outstanding international focus into their curriculum. What a fantastic achievement!
“The support for language education at Saint Gregory’s is phenomenal and it sounds like they are getting fantastic results. As a former MFL teacher, I know first-hand how important language education is for children’s development and their relationship with the world. We are so fortunate to have a school with such a committed international ethos here in Bath.”
