Following its 50th year commemorations in the summer, Hayesdown First School in Frome has a further reason to celebrate with a successful Ofsted inspection.

Praised for its ‘clear vision for what all pupils can achieve’ the Frome First School was confirmed as ‘Good’, following an ungraded inspection in July.

The inspector noted, ‘Pupils enjoy coming to Hayesdown First School….. [they] show exemplary attitudes towards school …[and] pupils are extremely polite and well-mannered. Pupils and staff enjoy warm, respectful relationships.’

‘The school has a clear vision… An ambitious curriculum has been designed and sequenced well.’

Head Teacher, Julia Battersby, said, “The report is extremely positive, and I am sure parents will recognise how well it reflects those aspects of our school which are so important to us all. Coupled with our statutory assessments being consistently above national average this is further testament to the excellent experience that children have at Hayesdown First school.”

Charlotte Fletcher, Chair of Governors, added, “The report highlights the school’s strengths in reading and mathematics, essential building blocks for learning. Equally important is the inspector’s note that ‘children leave Hayesdown well prepared for life in modern Britain’.

“At Hayesdown teaching staff actively seek opportunities to broaden pupils’ horizons and leave them with a ‘mature understanding of fundamental British values’”.

Hayesdown is one of 18 schools which are supported by The Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of primary and special schools across Bath and Somerset.

Emily Massey, CEO of the Trust, commented, “It’s thanks to all the hard-working staff, local governing body and supportive parents that the Ofsted outcome reflects how we all feel about Hayesdown – a warm, nurturing school with excellent behaviour and outcomes, and a clear vision for the future.”

“It’s also good to see that the inspection noted how the Trustees and local governors share the school’s ambition for what pupils can achieve, and that staff benefit from the training and coaching that is provided.”
