News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Last Sunday the Bath RFC Junior Girls enjoyed an unforgettable visit from Red Rose player Maddie Feaunati. Maddie received a warm welcome with a guard of honour from the girls as she entered the clubhouse, and was delighted to see that the clubhouse hadn’t changed much since her own childhood, reminiscing about the days when she watched her dad train and her aunt play for the ladies’ team.

During her visit, Maddie shared an inspiring talk about her rugby journey, captivating the girls, parents and coaches with her experiences. The girls engaged with thoughtful questions, making it a truly interactive session.

Following some official photos, Maddie joined the club’s coaches to lead a special training session. Her expert advice and hands-on tips were invaluable and left a lasting impression on the girls. The day concluded with another guard of honour, this time for the Ladies’ 1st team, followed by food and cake to celebrate the occasion.

“A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made the day possible and to the parents for their continued support,” said Kelly Horton, Bath Girls manager and coach. “It was a day filled with inspiration, fun and memories to cherish!

“We look forward to our next event for U9-U12 girls on 1st December that welcomes clubs across Somerset for a pitch up and play session, giving girls of all abilities the chance to play rugby, have fun and meet new friends. Anyone looking to take part can contact the club at email hidden; JavaScript is required.”

Bath RFC Junior Girls

Bath RFC Junior Girls are part of a vibrant club that offers rugby opportunities for all, from Minis and Juniors to Ladies teams. Over the past few years, the girls’ section has grown significantly, and now has players in every age group. The teams actively participate in training sessions, matches and social events, fostering a strong sense of community.

The club provides a welcoming and supportive environment for girls aged 11 to 18, with a clear pathway to transition into the Ladies’ team. All abilities are welcome—whether they’re new to rugby or looking to develop skills, the club’s training sessions are a fantastic way to meet the team and its dedicated coaches.

“Our club is built on a passion for rugby and a commitment to developing every player,” explained Kelly. “We’re proud to see players progress through our age-grade groups and move onto the Ladies’ pathway, which reflects the strength, ambition, and supportive environment of Bath RFC.

“In addition to playing opportunities, we also offer volunteer roles in coaching, match-day support and event organisation – perfect for anyone who wants to get involved and contribute to the success of the club.

“Looking ahead, with the Women’s Rugby World Cup next year, we’re thrilled to be part of the Impact 25 program. This initiative has helped us recruit new players, train more coaches, and develop vital skills to continue growing and improving our club.

“Join us at Bath RFC and be part of a club that’s passionate about rugby, community and opportunity for all!”
