News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Dorothy House Hospice is hosting a weekend of Christmas fun, including their two longstanding events, their Christmas Fair and the recently renamed Jingle Jog on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December respectively.

Festive shopping!

The Christmas Fair is the perfect way to get into the seasonal spirit whilst raising vital funds for the community’s local Hospice charity. Shoppers will be treated to live festive music from The Bellini Girls and can enjoy delicious refreshments whilst picking up gifts and treats for Christmas.

There’ll be a great range of retail stalls available on the day including:

  • Tasty festive treats
  • Raffle with fantastic star prize!
  • Handmade ceramic christmas tree decorations
  • Christmas gifts and accessories
  • Handmade wooden, knitted and quilted crafts
  • Christmas cards and decorations
  • Children’s toys
  • Tombola
  • Seasonal potted plants
  • Ubiety luxury body care and home fragrance
  • Relaxing hand massage from our in-house therapists

Shoppers are encouraged to share festive snaps from the event on social media by using the hashtag #DHChristmasFair. Doors open at 10am and close at 2pm. Further information is available here.

A family-fun Christmas jog!

Back for another year (previously called the Santa and Elf Run), Dorothy House is bringing back its fantastic Jingle Jog, fun for the entire family. This year’s updated event will encourage everyone to come in their own festive gear to enjoy a run or walk around the Hospice and the village of Winsley.

And this year there is even more fun planned for the young ones in the family! There will a Christmas-themed activity pack available to anyone that signs up and a set of Christmas themed challenges along the route that participants can complete to earn a prize at the end.

Dorothy House Hospice is once again partnering with Winsley Cricket Club, and after the Jingle Jog, the Cricket Club will be hosting food, drink and live music from resident music legend Joe Hunt, who recently played at Dorothy House’s Gig in the Grounds.

Potential participants are advised to sign up online as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as this event is very popular, and you can find out more and sign up online here.

Raising vital funds for Dorothy House

Proceeds from both festive events will go towards helping Dorothy House to support patients and their families and carers at a time when they most need it. It is Dorothy House’s mission to ensure that everyone across our 700sq mile patch has access to outstanding palliative and end of life care.

Dorothy House offers a range of services, from specialist medical support, to complementary therapies, to helping patients live their final days at home and arranging experiences that create special memories for families and friends.
