Twerton Infants in Bath is benefitting from a wonderful level of local support which has resulted in two new resources to benefit the children who attend the school.
The first is a new sandpit which was made possible by the donation of old car tyres by Bathwick Tyres and the provision of 20 tonnes of sand through Curo’s Community Funding Pot.
The second is a yurt which will provide a valuable learning space to enhance the school’s on-site forest school.
“The Yurt has been designed and lovingly crafted by at an ethical workshop in Dorset using natural materials and traditional building techniques,” explained headteacher George Samios. “It provides a cosy and versatile space that can be used year-round, and means that more children in the school will benefit from regular outdoor learning sessions.
“The school is very grateful for practical and financial support from across the local community to enable the project to materialise. Crucial funding was provided by three local organisations: The Medlock Trust, Mercy in Action and St James Wine Vaults. The materials for the foundations were donated through a grant from Curo’s Community Funding Pot and were assembled with the help of parents and staff from the school.”
Bath resident and acclaimed actor, Kris Marshall, will attend an official opening of the Yurt on Tuesday 3rd December.
