Emma Larkham has been appointed as Headteacher at Castle Mead School, Trowbridge and will start the new role after the Easter break.
Castle Mead School opened in September 2014 as a new school, built as part of the Castle Mead housing development in East Trowbridge. The school is still growing and includes a purpose-built nursery on site, as well as a Resource Base for children with complex needs. It is part of The Mead Academy Trust, which also includes The Mead Primary School (which has sites at Hilperton and Wingfield) and River Mead School in Melksham.
“I am delighted to have been appointed to the role of Headteacher at Castle Mead School,” said Emma. “Welcoming children as they skip into school in the mornings, reading messages of support from parents during this tricky period of Covid and seeing the sheer determination, dedication and commitment of all the staff has demonstrated what a truly special place Castle Mead School is.
“I can’t wait to get started on the next phase of Castle Mead’s journey, and want to pay tribute to the great school team – and to Mrs Phillips in particular – who has led the school over the past year, during such a challenging time.”
Emma explains that her philosophy for education is based on the “strong belief that every child can reach their potential. It is an absolute privilege, and responsibility, as a teacher and leader, to inspire, motivate and nurture children to fully achieve this. Consistency, praise, encouragement, support and challenge are key to enabling children to be the best they can be.”
Emma is keen to ensure that children remain at the centre of all that the school does and ensure a strong partnership between home and school. She is eager to get to know all of the parents and children better as they return to school for the first time in 2021.
Trust CEO, Mrs Lyssy Bolton, added, “I am delighted that Emma has accepted this post. She joined our Trust four years ago as a Deputy Headteacher, having been a Headteacher in London, and has been based at Castle Mead since September 2020. Castle Mead is a ‘Good’ school and I know that under Emma’s leadership it will continue to grow and develop, and the children will thrive.”
There are places available at Castle Mead School in both the nursery and selected year groups within the school. For further information, please contact Melanie Jacob on 01225 768641 or email email hidden; JavaScript is required.
