Pupils from Aloeric Primary School and Bowerhill Primary School in Melksham have helped to bury a time capsule at the site of Wiltshire Council’s Melksham Community Campus.

The pupils helped curate items to be included in the capsule, which will not be opened until 2051 at the earliest. The items included stories, letters, pictures and poems from the pupils.

The campus, which is being constructed by Pellikaan Construction Ltd, is due to open by Autumn 2022. It has been supported with a grant from Sport England, and will offer a wide range of facilities and services under one roof, including a gym, cycle and fitness studios, 25m pool and learner pool, sports hall, library, café and meeting space for the community.

Georgie Coombs, a pupil from Aloeric Primary School, said, “It’s amazing to bury the time capsule. We took two days to put art together and we’re very proud.”

Drew Fletcher, a pupil from Bowerhill Primary School, added, “We did some writing on how we got through 2020. We are very happy and very proud to be chosen to be involved.”
