News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bath Canoe Club is running a series of kayaking and canoeing activities this summer aimed at giving 13 to 17 year olds an introduction to the sport.

“This is a key club development step to establish the club as a key sports facility and give youngsters the opportunity to become skilled and enjoy this sport and the amenity of our city river,” said Ian Moore, the Club’s Chairman.

“We will initially run a Come & Try it session on the evening of Monday 4 July, with a second opportunity on Monday 25 July.  Following these dates, we will run weekly activities, intended to provide experience of different paddle sport disciplines, ranging from exploring and having kayak fun and then through to racing, having first established basic kayaking skills and river safety awareness.”

The Come & Try sessions cost £5 each, with the club operating from a clubhouse located near Cleveland Bridge, with direct access to the river Avon. Places for the ‘Come & Try’ sessions limited and will be offered on a first come-first served basis.
