News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

This results day is the first since T Levels have been offered at Bath College. These have been released today alongside all the College’s BTEC and other higher technical qualification results.

Launched in 2020, T Levels are two-year courses which are taken after GCSEs and are equivalent to A Levels. Around 80% of study takes place at college, with 20% on work placement, the opposite of an apprenticeship, but still offering on-the-job experience.

Bath College Education and Childcare T Level students decided to gather in-person on campus to collect their results rather than online. This is the mid-way point of their course, so the equivalent of opening AS Level results.

There were delighted smiles and shrieks filling the reception as they opened their envelopes nervously. Every one of them passed, standing them in good stead for their final grades next year, which will be Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.

Amelia Brimson, 17, said, “I feel overwhelmed. I didn’t even think I was going to pass, but I did so well so I can relax now!”

Katie Bowles, 17 said, “I’m shocked and happy, I’ve done a lot better than I thought and I’m really impressed with myself.”

Natalia Gorska, 18, added, “I wasn’t expecting to get what I got, the work I put into it has paid off. Wow!”

Sarah Demirci, Curriculum Team Leader for Early Years and T Levels, commented, “I feel absolutely ecstatic and am so proud of my students. They worked so hard and have done so well in their first year of the T Level.”

Ceri Baker, newly appointed Assistant Principal for Curriculum, and T Level lead at Bath College, said, “It’s a real testament to the hard work of our teaching staff that all our T Level students passed their first year. I’m incredibly proud of them all.”

Bath College T Levels subjects include Digital, Health and Education and Childcare, with Business and Engineering starting in September. Nationally, 92.2% of learners achieved a ‘pass’ or above in their occupational specialism, with the Bath College T Level learners caming out with a 100% pass rate.
