The Saltford Primary School mixed Year 5 and Year 6 Tag Rugby Team recently competed in the County Finals held at Bristol Grammar School, along with 15 other teams. The team from Saltford played really well playing Headley Park in the quarter finals and winning 4-3 with a golden try scored by Billy S.
In the semi final against St Stephens the score at the end was 3-3 before Oscar T scored the golden try. Then in the final against St Bonaventure, a very exciting match saw the teams drawn at full time. Ollie B then scored the final golden try of the tournament.
Harley B said, “There were some very good teams taking part in this tournament and I was really pleased that we played well enough to win.”
Katie G added, “We worked well as a team and supported each other throughout the tournament. I am really pleased with my medal.”
Thank you to Geraint Lewis, Up and Under Sports for coaching the team and to Mrs Tovey and all the parents who provided transport and support for the children during the day.
