News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

TEDx Bath is back, promising an afternoon of inspiring talks, exciting performances and unlimited ideas. Taking place at The Forum, Bath on 14 October, the event with present eight speakers, two acts and unlimited ideas!

TEDx Bath was launched in 2018 as a showcase for speakers presenting great, well-formed ideas in under 18 minutes. Last year was its first year in the Forum, in front of a packed-out crowd. This year is shaping up to be even better, exploring and sharing ideas that can enrich lives and help build stronger, thriving communities.

TEDxBath has grown from its first event in the Abbey with 100 people, to last year’s event, held for the first time in The Forum with a capacity of 1,600 people.

Nik Jovčić-Sas

In 2022 the diverse speaker line-up included: 12 year-old ‘Boy in the Tent’ Max Woosey; Olympic gold medalist Amy Williams; and LGBTQ+ Activist and Eastern Orthodox Theologian Nik Jovčić-Sas. Many of Bath’s largest businesses rallied together to sponsor the event and amplify its impact within the community. Among the supporters and partners for this year’s event at The Bath & Wiltshire Parent, Radio Bath, RWK Goodman, the University of Bath and Bath Spa University.

As before, this year’s event will cover a range of contemporary talk topics and the speakers will be announced soon. As last year, the event will also feature performances from talented local people and include the TEDxBath Innovation Lab, a place for the audience to discover innovations from sponsors, mingle with past speakers and continue discussions about the talks they have just witnessed.

TEDxBath Lead Organiser, Rhodora Baguilat said, “We are building TEDxBath as a fully inclusive community. We are looking forward to our event on 14th October and to welcoming people from all backgrounds, ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, and people with visible and invisible disabilities. We are passionate and proud to reflect diversity in our audiences, our city, and on our stage.”

Volunteers

TEDxBath is run by a group of volunteers, who have come together each year to make it happen. Volunteer and Comms Lead for 2023, Bob Mytton of local brand and design agency Mytton Williams, said “We are proud to be supporting such an exciting local event. Having been to the event for the first time last year, I was keen for us to join the team, get involved and help with the campaign and all communications.”
