Preparations are underway for the second annual Black History Month celebration at Clarks Village in Street, Somerset, in collaboration with the Somerset Multicultural Association, and this year promises to be bigger and better.
The aim of the event is to bring BME people who live in rural Somerset together and to share vibrant black history and culture with the local community. This event is free and family-orientated, running from Friday 20 October to Sunday 22 October.
The weekend itself is set to be fun-filled, with music and dance performances, steel pan workshops and arts and crafts activities for the children. Mahalia’s Kitchen will be running a food stall across the weekend providing sumptuous Caribbean cuisine.
Eden Simpson of the Somerset Multicultural Association, said, “We’re excited to build upon the success of last year’s event and ready to celebrate in style. Kickstart your half term in style and come celebrate with us, all are welcome.”
