Wiltshire Council is offering a variety of intensive swimming lesson courses across its leisure centres this Easter school holiday period, aimed at supporting children with their swimming development and confidence in the water.
Intensive lessons can be a great way to introduce new swimmers to the water or as a way of accelerating learning for those already in the council’s swim school programme. Courses could be used alongside a child’s regular lesson, as a one-off one-week course or as an opportunity to progress if a child is on a waiting list to start their weekly lessons.
All council pools follow Swim England’s Learn to Swim pathway, a national syllabus used to ensure swimming lessons for all ages are delivered to a high and consistent standard. Non-swimmers are taken through the four frameworks in the programme; starting with the basics of learning to swim through to more advanced skills and sports such as water polo and diving.
Pupils can earn badges and certificates along the way to reward their progression and learning.
