St Gregory’s Headteacher, Melissa George, looks back at the school year for this Bath secondary school

As St Gregory’s Catholic College concludes its Year of Grace, we reflect on a period marked by exceptional creativity, endeavour and achievement. Our students have challenged themselves in the Duke of Edinburgh awards, excelled in sporting competitions, showcased their talents in performing arts, celebrated success in the British Council’s prestigious International School Award and embraced a wealth of enriching experiences both in and out of the classroom.

As a Lasallian Associate school, our commitment is to provide an exciting and diverse educational experience which has been evident across so many areas of school life.

This year has seen the introduction of innovative pastoral programmes to support our young people and enhance the care and support we provide. Our dedication to academic excellence is reflected in the strong focus on Literacy and Oracy, with many more exciting things planned for next year, to equip our students with crucial skills for their future careers.

The St Gregory’s community has embraced environmental stewardship with enthusiasm. Student-led eco-teams and horticultural groups have been instrumental in creating a cleaner, greener environment, as well as beautiful spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Our sixth form continues to flourish, with more exciting developments on the horizon, including a dedicated sixth form common room set to open this September, further enhancing the experience for our senior students.

The recent launch of our new website offers an insightful window into the St Gregory’s experience, showcasing how we support each student’s academic, personal, and spiritual development.

We celebrate a community united in its pursuit of excellence, guided by our shared values and a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

I am truly privileged to be part of such a warm and welcoming community. The dedication, creativity and spirit of our students, staff, and families never cease to inspire me. This past year has been a testament to what we can achieve when we work together, guided by our shared values and commitment to excellence.

As we look to the future, I am filled with excitement for the incredible potential that lies ahead, especially in relation to our whole school approach to Literacy and Oracy as well as a strong focus on wellbeing and mental health. St Gregory’s is not just a school; it’s a family where every individual is valued and encouraged to flourish. Together, we are shaping a bright future for our students and our community.
