Echoes from the Aviary at Tyntesfield National Trust
July 9 – 10:00 am - 5:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until 31st July 2024
A group of young people from Hartcliffe have been working with artists Oshii and Jono Gilmurray to create a sound and visual art installation for the aviary. The group explored the history of the building and the bird life that would have inhabited it, the significance of birds to the wider history and how the mining of seabird droppings (guano) for fertilizer made William Gibbs his fortune. The final artwork explores these histories and what can be learnt from them to consider ongoing and future awareness of nature and birdlife.
A collaboration between the National Trust and Heart of BS13 supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Free with normal admission; no booking required.
