The first History Highlight event, focusing on fashion, with speakers, a study and sketch activity and film screenings hosted at Parade House.

18 October: Study & Sketch Suitable for ages 16+.
Explore garments from the store that are rarely on display. Bring your sketchbook and preferred art medium to study and sketch items from the collection.

19 October: Uniformly Elegant Talk
Most will have seen Jane Bennett and Mr Darcy in their Regency finery but have you ever wondered what they wore underneath?

20 October: Togas, Kirtles and Bonnets
Join the museum’s staff and volunteers on the catwalk for an amusing, informative and participatory talk through 2000+ years of underwear, outerwear, hats and gloves.

21 October: Mary Quant – Innovator ‘Made in Britain’
Arts and fashion historian, Sally Chidlow-Grant, will give a talk about Mary Quant’s legacy and her connection with Trowbridge’s rich textile heritage.

21 October: Stand and Deliver Talk by ‘The Dandy Dealer,’ noted purveyor of desirable gentlemen’s clothing and accessories from the Mark Wallis Collection spanning the years 1670-1970.

21 October: Rosemary Hawthorne presents Knickers
A light-hearted look at unmentionables from Jane Austen to present.
