Bath & North East Somerset Council is encouraging children aged between 4 and 11 to sign up to this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Working with the Reading Agency, all libraries across Bath and North East Somerset including the mobile library, will be taking part in the challenge, which aims to keep children reading throughout the summer school holiday.
Those who sign up will need to borrow and read six books; these can be fiction, non-fiction, older picture books or even audio books. Books can be picked up from the area’s libraries between Saturday 15 July and Saturday 9 September. Upon return of the book participants should ask a member of staff to stamp their reading record. Once six books have been read a certificate and medal will be given to the child, subject to availability.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘animal agents’ with launch events taking place on Saturday 15 July at the following venues:
Keynsham Library, 11am-12.30pm

To sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge you need to be a member of the Bath & North East Somerset Library Service, which you can join at any branch. When borrowing books for the challenge, you must show your library card each time you visit.
