News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bath Digital Festival is back for its sixth year from 23-27 October 2018, offering five days of talks, activities, workshops and more for anyone from pre-schooler to pensioners at venues across the city, including working closely with local school. Last year, these activities ranged designing and building robots to raising cash for local charities, cyber security to virtual reality, self-driving cars to coding for kids.

Based on the theme of ‘Discovery’, the 2018 programme is already shaping up to be the biggest and best festival yet. Amongst the corporate sponsors already signed up to add their expertise this year are Invest in Bath, Minuteman Press and Bath based Mayden Academy, who specialise in fast-track software developer training programmes.

“We’ve supported Bath Digital Festival for a couple of years,” commented Mike Oram, Academy Lead and Senior Developer. “We’re keen to inspire and support future generations of developers so we see real parallels between what we are doing and the whole ethos and spirit of the festival.”

Understanding and embracing digital technology is what Bath Digital Festival is all about explains Jim Morrison, Director of Bath Digital Festival and CEO of Deep Blue Sky. “Technologies are changing and advancing at an incredible pace and everyone is impacted, from families to multi-national corporations.” explained Jim. “We live and work in one of the epicentres of this acceleration, so we have a duty as a city, and as a community of leading tech companies like Deep Blue Sky, to bring together everyone whom digital change touches, with those who are at the leading edge of that change.”

If you’ve got an idea to showcase, a story to tell, or you’d like to sponsor Bath Digital Festival 2018 there’s still time to get involved. “For sponsors, the festival is a unique opportunity to position your brand in front of a wide consumer audience of forward thinkers, and promote your company as an industry leader, a visionary with a social conscience and interest in furthering society through innovation of technology and ideas,” explained Jim.

“For speakers and event organisers, the festival offers a super friendly environment, that’s keen to support novice presenters and seasoned professionals alike. It’s a futuristic platform to share your experience and ideas with an audience that’s hungry to learn and discover.”
