News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The organisers of the Bath Comedy Festival, which takes place every April, is trying to raise £2k to enable their kids’ comedy events within the grown-up festival to be put on a firm footing for 2017. The kids’ element of the festival has been run by very enthusiastic volunteer professionals for the last three years but now they want to make it a sustainable and permanent entity in our programme.

Ralph Oswick, Associate Director Bath Comedy Festival, explained, “We have found that low-priced, high quality, creative and buggy-friendly comedy events for littlies, usually taking place in the clean, safe and comfortable surroundings of the new Widcombe Social Club, have been an immediate success with hard-up mums and dads looking for suitable daytime entertainment. We think we are probably the only comedy festival in England that programmes for two year olds and upwards.

“However, commercial sponsors are only interested in big names, and although our recent Arts Council grant for marketing includes a modest sum towards the kids’ events, we still need to raise another £2k to make it happen properly in 2017.

“We are asking people who would like to support us to go to our Crowdfunder site where there are more details and the possibility of making a donation if they can afford it.”
