Children from The Paragon School, Prior Park College and a number of other Bath schools, were treated to an amazingly entertaining and engaging talk from children’s author and TV historian Lucy Worsley, held recently at Prior Park College.
Lucy is currently Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces but is probably best known as a presenter of numerous BBC television series on a range of historical topics and more recently has published two children’s books.
Lucy Worsley spoke to the children about the Victorians, regaling the children with the rather amusing story of the race between the Prince Regent’s brothers, the seven surviving sons of King George III, to see who could father a legitimate heir following the death of Princess Charlotte of Wales in 1817.
Some of the children had the opportunity to participate in a living timeline, before Lucy took lots of questions from the children about what she’s uncovered about the era. Lucy then went on to read some extracts from her latest novel on the Victorian era entitled My Name is Victoria.
