Churchfields School in Monkton Farleigh is offering the use of its purpose-built amphitheatre to local groups for free or at a very minimal charge. The amphitheatre, which has been landscaped into the school playing field, is in a stunning location and has a beautiful view out over towards the White Horse, which you can see on a clear day.
“Since being built, the amphitheatre has been put to good use,” explained Headteacher Simon Futcher. “Staff worked closely alongside Petra Schofield, a visiting theatre expert, to enhance their skills, knowledge and understanding of the theatre performance process in order to build sustainability. With the help of staff, pupils have also planned from scratch a whole performance of their own, learning about the complete process along the way including costume and prop design/making and ticket sales to name only several. Further work is planned including a Christmas event and Easter performance at this time.”
Any community group interested in using the amphitheatre can call 01225 703026 or email email hidden; JavaScript is required for more details.
