News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Stonar School’s Romania Challenge team spent 24 hours in a stable at the end of March, in freezing temperatures, raising money for its forthcoming trip to Romania which will take place in October half term. Each pupil must raise over £400 in sponsorship to contribute to the project.

As well as fundraising, the stable experience helps the team understand the conditions that the slum families they are helping inhabit – cold, cramped and basic. Pupils were not allowed to bring gadgets with them, relying instead on teambuilding activities to keep them busy and entertained during their stay.

Stonar’s Romania team will work with Trowbridge charity, People Against Poverty in Romania, helping on a building project to improve the lives of the slum families, which may be building a house, or constructing farm buildings.
