PlayWood Forest School is offering Bath mums the chance to enjoy Guided Evening Walks for adults in beautiful local countryside.
The walks take place on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings from 7 – 9pm during August, starting in a different places each time. The walks are designer to be fun and sociable, offering a great way to get to know places of interest in and around Bath, and to learn items of interest that mums can pass on to their children.
“As the lockdown eases, I have decided to offer local walks to local mums to allow a time for a bit of socialising after a very strange period and a chance to get to know your local area a bit better,” explained Tania Orgill from PlayWood Forest School.
“The idea is that these walks will cover different parts of Bath, giving you confidence to walk in those areas with your family. I will point of places of interest and teach you a little about wildlife along the way, whilst enjoying the beautiful countryside and hopefully experiencing a lovely sunset. You do not need to be super fit to join us as each walk will be tailored to the group on that evening – all you need is suitable footwear, a bottle of water and, of course, your hand sanitiser.
“I have been walking on my own every day during lockdown to do my photography and I have enjoyed it so much and have discovered so many places along the way. I thought if I shared that knowledge with local mums then they could show their children too.
“I have carried out a few free trial walks over the last couple of weeks to see what people thought of the idea and I have enjoyed the company and conversation so much. When we return to a more normal life, then I will offer a daytime walk in the week and also family walks.”
Tania added that the routes may include some hills, uneven ground and stiles to cross, and that all walks will follow the coronavirus guidelines. The walks will go ahead in all weather and are bookable on-line at www.bookwhen.com/playwood The walks cost £6.50, with each walker given a map with the route at the end of the walk
“Wonderful evening walks around Bath. Appreciated Tania’s knowledge of wildlife and local paths which has given me confidence to go walking with friends and share the newly discovered footpaths” – Sarah, Bath
“This walking group is no route march! Quality time spent exploring the local area with friendly conversation and an excellent guide. Did you know which plant smells of pineapples or what a deer sounds like?” – Kay, Bath
