Kip McGrath Bath North tutoring has launched a series of online tutoring options offering individual and group tuition in English and maths for children aged six years and older.
The tutor centre, based in Fairfield Road, Bath, transferred all of its classes to online during the recent lockdown, and it has proven so popular that the option will now stay in place, alongside more in-centre learning.
“We were pleased to be able to offer online learning and families were grateful for the regular input, which helped to keep their children’s learning on track at a difficult time,” explained Kip McGrath Bath North co-manager, Mark Renison. “Online learning has been integral to our system for a few years so when lockdown took hold, we were able to switch easily to all online. Currently, it’s about half and half, online/in-centre.
“We were equally delighted when we could start to welcome children back into the centre, because there’s nothing like real-life meeting for really connecting and engaging. Now we are delivering lessons both ‘Online’ and ‘In-Centre’ (at reduced capacity to allow for social distancing).
“Predominantly, we tutor children aged 6 to 16 but there is no upper limit. For example, we also tutor for US College SAT university entrance, including some of the Bath University tennis academy students who want to get onto tennis scholarships in the US. In addition, we help local teaching assistants who want to brush up on their skills to better support the children in school.”
The centre has also welcomed a new teacher on board, Poppy Morris (pictured above). Poppy comes highly recommended with extensive experience at Key Stage 2 and as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. With a Masters degree in English, she is well-qualified to support co-manager Jessica Renison with Key Stage 3 and 4 English.
“Poppy has fitted in perfectly at Kip McGrath: her natural rapport with children, valuable primary experience and intellectual rigour have been a welcome addition and allowed us to expand provision at a much-needed time,” explained Jessica. “We will continue to adapt to the changing landscape and aim to offer our families a flexible, reliable and engaging model of tuition, whatever life throws at us for the rest of 2020 and beyond. Please get in touch if you would like us to help support your child’s learning.”
