Bath charity Boys In Mind is celebrating after a film by one of its team won a prestigious prize at the Charity Film Awards.

Will’s Story features Will (pictured top with Jim Cumpson from Boys In Mind), who as a teenager, attempted to take his life several times. In this film he talks about how he came to feel so low, how important talking is and what else he does now to keep himself well.

The Charity Film Awards is the world’s biggest campaign to promote cause-based films, designed to inspire positive change in society by highlighting the people – and organisations – doing good in the world. The event was held in London at a gala ceremony the Odeon Leicester Square and can be viewed online here.

After seeing Will’s film, the panel of expert judges commented, “Bravo Will! How wonderful, articulate and so incredibly honest. We truly believe this will help others. A powerful film which packs an emotional punch thanks to its authenticity and directness.”

Commenting on his film, Will, who attended the awards, said, “The key is to talk and not worry about getting people worried there is always someone there to listen.”

Boys in Mind coordinator, Jim Cumpson, added, “This is an amazing beautiful  and honest film. Will’s film will differently help others to talk and share their stories. We are so proud of this film and the work that Boys in Mind is doing to help empower young men to talk about their emotions.”

Boys in Mind works with schools and other organisations to challenge unhelpful stereotypes, combat stigma around mental health  and ultimately prevent suicide. They develop and produce films and other resources to support its aims, and to provide a platform for children and young people to discuss issues affecting them.
