Fairfield Farm College, a college for young adults with learning disabilities based in Dilton Marsh near Westbury in Wiltshire, has developed a variety of working relationships with local Wiltshire businesses to help students gain work experience. Among the opportunities available has been the chance for one group of student to to keep very busy at Wainwright Quarry over the past few months, learning a variety of different horticulture and maintenance skills. One of the bigger projects the team have been working on is preparing and planting maple and hazelnut seeds in the woodlands surrounding the quarry.
This has allowed them to then return to the college where they can put their new skills into practice.
“Students are looking forward to seeing them grow over the coming years, and we’re hoping to continue adding to the project over the coming years” said Darren Barber, Careers Manager at Fairfield Farm College.
