News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Nine year old Noah Bamford has walked an impressive 10 miles from the centre of Bath to Bradford on Avon to raise £1,500 for ActionAid and provide support for those suffering as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Noah, who attends Oldfield Park Junior School in Bath, explained, “I chose to do the walk because on the news I have seen Mariupol being destroyed and I wanted to do something about it. I thought a walk would be good because I have never walked further than three miles before.”

“He was a real trooper managing the whole walk with me and Pappy without any complaint,” added his dad, Russel Bamford. “He even sprinted the last 100 yards, spurred on my his lovely supporters who came to see him over the line.

“We are so so proud of our kind, caring little boy for coming up with the idea himself to help the people of Ukraine and following the idea through in such spectacular fashion.”

When asked what it felt like when he finished, Noah replied, “I was very excited and ran the last bit over the finish line! I got to see my friends and as soon as I finished I started playing football! I was tired after a while and getting to the end gave me such joy.”
