Families, friends and colleagues are being invited to take part in the Wiltshire 3 Peaks Challenge, a 10km or half marathon route in the glorious expansive scenery of the Pewsey Vale. The event will support The Youth Adventure Trust, a registered charity that helps them to build resilience, develop confidence and learn the skills to face the challenges in their lives and make positive choices.
Taking place on 17 June, this is the perfect opportunity for friends and colleagues to come together, build resilience and help change the lives of vulnerable young people aged 11 – 15 who are climbing their own personal mountains every day.
Or if you want something bigger and wilder, Ellis Brigham Beacons Challenge will be taking place on Saturday 15th July 2023 in the stunning setting of the Brecon Beacons. Teams of between two and six people will be setting their compasses and heading out to hike either six or 10 different peaks, including the iconic Pen y Fan and the Brecon Horseshoe.
There will be challenging ascents but some spectacular views when you get to the top and a sense of real achievement when you cross the finish line. With the event sponsor, Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports, covering the costs of the Beacons Challenge, this means there is no entry fee and all the funds raised go directly to our programme helping vulnerable children.
“I didn’t think I could climb a mountain but I did from encouragement and determination”
Sarah, aged 12
With the cost of living crisis having a huge impact on the children that the charity supports, the funds raised from both challenges will enable young people to get outdoors and build confidence and resilience. 97% of families supported by The Youth Adventure Trust explained that they are struggling with the cost of living crisis, with many young people adding that if they weren’t coming to a Youth Adventure Activity Day during the school holidays, then they wouldn’t be doing anything at all.
“The Youth Adventure Trust allows me to do things that I normally wouldn’t be able to do.”
Kai, aged 11.
