North Wraxall Pre-School Playgroup, nestled in the countryside near Marshfield in Wiltshire, is looking for a new Manager to join its team.

The well established pre-school is located in a small, family focussed setting for 30 children aged two plus, with a strong focus on providing a caring, friendly and stimulating environment for children.

“We are looking to recruit a new Manager to join our amazing staff team,” said Tina Lang, the Committee Chair at the pre-school. “The successful applicant needs to be someone with a wealth of experience who is passionate about and committed to Early Years, someone who will see something to love and to nurture in each and every child in our setting, someone who will be there for all our parents and carers, someone who can mentor and help develop our staff team professionally, someone who has creative flair and a sense of the ridiculous, and someone who can see the huge potential we have in our unique space.”

Tina added that the position is full-time Monday-Friday, during Wiltshire term time only. There may be some extra hours in the evening or at weekends for training, administration tasks, meetings or Pre-School fundraising events.

Applicants will need to have –

  • A minimum Level 3 or 4 relevant Early Years qualification – further qualifications would be an advantage.
  • A qualification and experience in Forest School/Outdoor Play would also be advantageous as the children spend a lot of their time outside.
  • Up-to-date Child Protection, Safeguarding and First Aid training.
  • Previous experience working in a managerial, Deputy or Room Leader role within an Early Years setting, ideally for three years.
  • The ability to motivate and lead a staff team, and to work closely alongside the Committee in the day-to-day running of the setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS framework and regulations, including Safeguarding, Child Protection and Health & Safety.
  • The ability to ensure all Ofsted regulatory and legal requirements are met.
  • Experience in increasing occupancy, marketing and operational matters.
  • Experience in providing safe, stimulating, varied play opportunities tailored to each child and their needs/interests.
  • The ability to use a comprehensive, workable planning system (the pre-school currently uses In The Moment Planning), maintaining a Key Worker system, effectively supervising and mentoring Pre-School staff, monitoring quality of care, holding regular staff meetings, holding regular supervision meetings with the team, carrying out appraisals with the Committee Chair and identifying training needs in a positive, constructive manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the Committee Finance Team in all relevant areas.
  • The ability to ensure all Policies & Procedures are implemented and adhered to at all times, and to contribute to their future development.
  • To form good supportive relationships with the children, their families and carers, the Ladies in Blue, the Committee and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other responsibilities or duties as required in accordance with the Pre-School aims and objectives.

The ideal start date for the role is September 2023, although sooner would be advantageous.
