News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Congratulations to Royal High School Bath’s Year 11 GCSE students who are learning how their hard work and commitment has paid off. With a return to pre-pandemic standards for assessment using pre-Covid 19 grade boundaries, this year’s cohort has achieved an excellent set of results.

The top mark of Grade 9 was achieved by 25% of students, with 65% Grades 7-9 and 91% Grades 5-9. As with this years’ A Level and IB results, there is an overarching theme of high achieving students also being strongly involved with co-curricular activities in and out of school.

Anastasia is one student who has achieved an astonishing 12 Grade 9s across the board whilst also being involved, along with her family, with fundraising and support for Ukrainian families both in Ukraine as well as here in Bath.

Erin also gained a full house of Grade 9s whilst continuing with her passion for music and drama, including her key performance in Beauty and the Beast.

Kashuf scored all Grade 9 and 8 whilst also leading the school’s drama technicians backstage and completing her Duke of Edinburgh. Another student to score all Grade 9 and 8 was Rebecca, who has also excelled in singing and both playing and coaching tennis to aspiring players.

Twins Lola and Freya have really made their mark on the school since joining in Year 7 and have significantly contributed to life on the sports pitch and stage in music, drama and dance, as well as achieving excellent GCSE grades. Celebrations today are bitter-sweet as their family are relocating to Cardiff – thankfully, they will stay within the GDST family and move to Howell’s School.

These students are going on to study IB, A-Level Arts and A-Level STEM subjects in Sixth Form, continuing the school’s strong academic reputation across a breadth of subjects at Royal High School Bath.

Head, Mrs Kate Reynolds, said, “I am extremely proud of the girls’ achievements both in an academic arena and with their contributions to the wider life of the school. They have navigated significant challenges with determination and positivity and their hard work and resolve have been rewarded by excellent results.

“They have very strong foundations on which to build their IB and A Level studies and I have no doubt that they will both contribute a great deal to the life of the school in the Sixth Form as well as achieve equal success academically. They are remarkable young women.”
