News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bath Mind held its inaugural Mental Elf Fun Run at Odd Down playing fields on Sunday 10 December. Despite challenging weather conditions, 135 runners of all ages braved the elements and kept smiling, as they completed the 5K course. Many runners embraced the festive season, wearing everything from elf hats to Santa outfits.

Ollie of CaliUnity led the runners in a very much needed warm-up, stretching their cold muscles and lifting their spirits in advance of the race. As high winds, torrential rain, and at times hail, persisted the runners soldiered on, supported by a team of fantastic volunteers who lined the course, cheering – and at times even dancing in the rain!

CEO, Kate Morton, who was amongst those cheering on the runners, said, “What an amazing show of commitment from everyone supporting Bath Mind. As a local charity, we depend on fundraising to support our vital services and we are hugely grateful to all those who ran and supported either through sponsorship, participating or volunteering. Special thanks to Buro Happold, whose sponsorship and team of dedicated runners and volunteers, was invaluable in the success of this event.”

The Paragon School was out in full force to support Bath Mind, with an incredible team of young people and adults, bringing heaps of enthusiasm and oodles of festive spirit with them.

Bath Mind is grateful to all those who supported the event, including the many local businesses who generously contributed to the amazing goody bags given to runners – full information can be found at www.bathmind.org.uk/news/mental-elf-festive-fun-run-success/
