St Margaret’s Prep in Calne, Wiltshire, were delighted to once again attend the Devizes Eisteddfod, this time with 18 of their Year 4 singers.
They competed alongside nine other choirs from all over Wiltshire and sang I Am the Earth by Glyn Lehman – a dialogue between the Earth and a small group of children, where children promise to take care of the Earth for future generations, as well as Ocean Commotion by Debbie Campbell.
The children sang brilliantly and retained the trophy, which was won last year by St Margaret’s Chamber Choir. The adjudicator’s comments highlighted a “a real sense of performance in both pieces with great dynamics and good intonation.”
Mrs Hilary Gibbin, Head of Performing Arts, said, “It was an amazing experience listening to all the other choirs, and we were very impressed with the standard – it’s great to have singing back in full strength after COVID!’ Huge congratulations to St Margaret’s Year 4 singers!”
