Award-winning theatre company Indefinite Articles present Claytime,a play with clay for the very young, which tours to Bath’s Egg Theatre on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April.

Audiences aged three years and over are invited to take part in this ‘out-of-the-ordinary theatrical experience’ (The Guardian) which takes participants on a unique journey using their imaginations, creating their own world full of animals and monsters, drawn directly from the audience themselves.

After exploring the medium of clay through clowning, the artists interact with audience members, together creating characters, settings and stories which are then developed on stage to improvise a play. Each performance is unique to its specific audience, with the piece culminating in a short on-stage workshop where the children have their own opportunity for some hands-on clay time.

This interactive show was developed by Indefinite Article creator Sally Todd, whose extensive work with early years children focused on developing ideas and imagination. Wanting to make the audience actively involved, she created a philosophy of ‘open’ theatre where participants can be a part of the creation of the story, a concept informed by the work of Reggio Emilia.

Awarded four stars by Time Out, Claytime has toured extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, with over 500 performances at schools, theatres and festivals.

Claytime appears at The Egg on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April. To book tickets call the Theatre Royal Box Office on 01225 448844, The Egg on 01225 823 409 or visit www.theatreroyal.org.uk/whats-on/
