Dorothy House Hospice Care has supported 4,254 families living with an end of life diagnosis in the last year. According to Childhood Bereavement UK, around one child in every classroom will have been bereaved of a parent or sibling at some point in their childhood.

Over 70% of primary schools have a recently bereaved pupil on roll, and the majority of young people will have faced the death of someone close to them by the time they leave school. Bereavement can threaten children’s wellbeing, health, relationships and learning.

This is why Dorothy House is working in partnership with Bath College on this fundraising initiative. By taking on the Bath City Abseil Challenge, fundraisers will be doing their bit to support families in Bath and beyond at a time when they need it most.

  • £80 could fund three hours of community nursing time, helping patients manage pain, discomfort and emotional distress, directly in a patient’s home.

Dorothy House

“Dorothy House was there for my mum when she needed it most; offering her care, comfort and unwavering support. But their help didn’t stop there. After she passed away, they were there for me and my brother too, guiding us through the heartbreak, offering kindness and making sure we never felt alone.

“Losing someone you love is overwhelming, but Dorothy House makes a real difference to families like ours. Their work is vital and they help so many people through the hardest times. If you can, please support them; it means the world to people like us!

“Thank you. Max.”
