Stonar School has announced the appointment of Olympian Jodie Swallow as its first-ever Head of Triathlon — a move that marks an exciting new chapter in the school’s growing commitment to endurance sports.
The newly created role reflects Stonar’s ambition to expand its sports provision while fostering a culture of inclusivity, development and excellence.
Jodie, who currently leads the British Triathlon Olympic Regional Academy for the South West, will take up the position in a part-time capacity. With over 20 years of professional experience, she brings an outstanding record of achievement to the school, including titles such as Ironman 70.3 World Champion, double ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Champion and a top-four finish at the Ironman World Championships in Kona.
Alongside her husband James, Jodie has already played a key role in developing Stonar’s Triathlon Club for both Prep and Senior pupils over the past academic year. The club has seen pupils competing successfully in local events and gaining valuable early experience in the sport.
“I’m thrilled to take on this position at Stonar,” said Jodie. “My goal is to introduce pupils to the joy and discipline of triathlon, creating an inclusive environment where everyone can develop their skills – whether for fun or competitive success. I look forward to helping build a lasting triathlon culture and legacy here.”
Headmaster Matthew Way added, “Welcoming Jodie to lead our triathlon programme marks an exciting milestone for Stonar. Her world-class experience and passion for youth development align perfectly with our vision to nurture resilience, determination and sporting excellence in our pupils.”
