A brand-new performing arts school is launching in Bath, with weekly classes, holiday workshops and musical theatre opportunities for young people aged 6–16.
The Performing Arts Institute, founded by professional singer, actor and theatre maker Carley, will open its doors this January – with Bath families invited to enjoy a free two-week trial.

Carley says the inspiration for the Institute goes back to her own childhood. “I was a fairly shy child, and it was in performing arts that I found my confidence, and I have these kinds of classes to thank for that,” she said. “Whether they want to become a professional performer or simply want to express themselves, the best part of teaching was seeing them realise that.”
Now a new resident of Bath and a mum of two, she adds that her children “don’t stop singing” and that they now enjoy “singathons on the way to school every morning”.

The main Friday Evening Performing Arts School launches on Friday 16 January 2026, running from 5–7.30pm each week during term time at Prior Park College. “Our wonderful venue offers a fully functioning theatre, a dance studio, a music chapel and a drama room, plus free on-site parking – a real bonus,” said Carley. Families can book now and enjoy a free two-week trial.
From March 2026, one-hour specialist classes will also run on Thursday evenings at The Paragon School. These include Musical Theatre for ages 6–12 from 5–6pm, and Acting and Group Singing for ages 11–16 from 6–7pm.

The Institute welcomes children aged 6–16, offering high quality training in singing, acting and dance. “Students will develop stage presence, confidence speaking in front of others, vocal projection, dance skills across multiple genres, acting techniques, group singing and so much more,” said Carley.
She adds that a nurturing environment is key. “We offer a very welcoming and encouraging environment for students to explore their interests and develop their skills,” she said. “We have been praised for our ability to create a safe environment – and that’s the key for allowing children to express themselves, and really go for it.”
Performance opportunities feature heavily throughout the year. “I do not shy away from putting on multiple productions,” said Carley. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and growing confidence, and for family and friends to celebrate their achievements.” Students will also take part in demo showcases and festive vocal concerts.

Bath families can also look forward to an exciting Wicked-themed workshop during February half term. “The workshop covers singing, dance and drama, and includes well-loved songs, acting scenes from iconic moments of the show and dances to some of those big musical numbers,” said Carley. Children are invited to wear pink or green and will end the day with a showcase for parents.
The half term workshop takes place on Wednesday 18 February, 10am–3pm at Prior Park College, and is open to ages 6–16, with groups split appropriately. Bookings are open now. The Performing Arts Institute will also offer one-day holiday workshops and a week-long summer camp.
Carley brings extensive professional experience to the new venture. “I am a classical crossover singer, actor and theatre maker,” she said. “I was the founder of a theatre company in the field of mental health, which toured productions nationally and internationally and worked with all ages providing confidence-building services through the arts.”
She trained at the Royal Academy of Music, holds a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and an MA in Theatre, and has taught at many stage schools over the years. “I have been so pleased to run my own,” she added.
Bath families can find out more, book taster sessions and explore upcoming workshops on the Performing Arts Institute’s website and social channels.
