Mendip Mini Fests promise a summer of family fun

Mendip Basecamp launches six Mini Fests with live music, storytelling, circus skills and family entertainment across July and August.

Families looking for something a little different this summer can head to Mendip Basecamp, which has announced a brand-new series of relaxed, family-friendly festival weekends.

Running throughout July and August, Mendip Mini Fests form part of a wider Summer of Entertainment at the award-winning campsite, with live music taking place every weekend.

Having been named second-best campsite at the VisitEngland Awards, Mendip Basecamp is building on last year’s success by offering something even bigger for families staying on site.

The exclusive mini festivals are included at no extra cost for campsite guests, creating a laid-back atmosphere where families can enjoy live music and entertainment surrounded by the Mendip Hills.

David Eddins, CEO of Mendip Adventure, said, “After the incredible response to our Mendip Family Festival last summer, we wanted to do something really special for our campers this summer. We’ve decided to run six mini festivals instead of one.

“Mendip Mini Fests are all about creating those unforgettable summer evenings – live music, great atmosphere, and families enjoying time together in the outdoors.”

Six weekends of live entertainment

The Mendip Mini Fests will take place across six selected weekends, with a line-up of live music acts already confirmed.

Headline performers include The Sam Evans Band, The Lipinskis, The Missing Cat Band, Aardvarks, Supervision, and Station2Station.

Alongside the music, families can enjoy a wide range of entertainment, from storytelling and face painting to outdoor workshops and circus skills.

All of this takes place within Mendip Basecamp’s 250-acre countryside setting, giving children the space to explore while parents relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Celebrating local talent

The festival series will also shine a spotlight on emerging performers, with a new talent competition giving acts the chance to perform a 30-minute set on the Bandwagon stage.

The initiative aims to celebrate local creativity and give up-and-coming performers a platform in front of a family audience.

A growing family destination

Mendip Basecamp has quickly become a popular choice for families since opening to the public in 2020.

Set within 250 acres, the site offers a relaxed camping experience with campfires, open pitching and a growing range of facilities, including shower blocks, a café-style Pavilion and a well-stocked shop.

With live music every Saturday and a packed programme of summer events, Mendip Mini Fests look set to be a highlight of the school holidays for families across Bath, Wiltshire and beyond.
