Wellow Village Show returns for 76th year of family fun

The 76th Wellow Village Flower and Horticultural Show returns on 12 July with flowers, crafts, food, dog show and family entertainment.



Families are invited to enjoy a traditional summer day out when the 76th annual Wellow Village Flower and Horticultural Show returns to Wellow Recreation Field on Sunday 12 July.

Taking place from 12pm to 4pm, the popular community event will showcase the best locally grown produce, flower displays, baking, preserves, arts and crafts, all competing for a range of coveted prize cups and awards.

The horticultural marquee will once again be at the heart of the show, featuring entries from across the village and surrounding area, including dedicated classes and prizes for children.

Outside, visitors will find a wide variety of local stalls celebrating gardening, food, crafts and community projects. Sweet Water Plant Nursery will be selling locally grown plants, while Radstock-based Bohemian Blooms will offer seasonal Somerset flowers. Louisebees will bring local honey and handmade beeswax candles, and Bath Soft Cheese will showcase its award-winning cheeses.

Root Connections will also be attending, highlighting its seasonal vegetable box and flower bouquet subscriptions. The organisation grows chemical-free produce while supporting people affected by rural homelessness. Profits from this year’s show will help support its charitable work.

Visitors can browse handmade crafts from local makers including Dolton Designs, Amelia Harvey Art, The Pottery Collective, Knotalot and Anderson and Daughters. Children can also watch live 3D printing demonstrations throughout the afternoon.

The much-loved dog show will return alongside a packed programme of family entertainment, including donkey rides, ferret racing, a falconry display, face painting, a bouncy castle, boules and a coconut shy.

Food and drink will be available throughout the day. Somer Valley Brewing will run the beer tent, while The Village Parlour Shop will serve barbecue favourites. Wellow-based Kampong Curry will offer a selection of meals, including vegetarian options, and St Julian’s Primary school PTA will provide cream teas and cakes. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments from a coffee van and ice cream van.

Organisers say the show promises an afternoon celebrating community spirit, local talent and the very best of village life.
