More than 600 pieces of student work will go on display across Wiltshire College & University Centre’s campuses this June as hundreds of young creatives celebrate the end of the academic year.
The college’s annual end-of-year shows will feature exhibitions and performances from students studying art, design, media, film, photography, fashion textiles, music performance and music production at Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury.
For many students, the exhibitions mark the culmination of two years of study and provide an opportunity to present their work to the public for the first time.
Owain Milford, Head of Faculty, Creative Arts, Media & Performance, said, “It’s a real celebration of the students’ journey and their work, and it’s an exciting time for them. It’s also a chance to give them that experience of displaying something they’ve created to the public, which is the end point of all creative work really.”
Alongside second-year students presenting their final projects, first-year students will also showcase work reflecting on their first year at college.
Trowbridge celebrates 50 years of Foundation Art and Design
The Trowbridge campus will hold a private view on 11 June before opening to the public from 12 to 14 June. This year’s event is particularly significant as it marks the 50th anniversary of the Foundation Art and Design course.
Owain said, “It’s a great milestone for us and when you think of all the people who have studied with us and gone on to do great things, it’s something to celebrate.”
More than 500 guests, including former students, arts professionals and university partners, are expected to attend the anniversary celebrations at the private view evening.
Visitors will also be able to see media students’ film and games projects showcased on the big screen in the recently extended Tech Trowbridge arena.
Exhibitions across Chippenham and Salisbury
The Chippenham and Salisbury campuses will host private view evenings on 18 June, with public exhibitions opening on 19 June and continuing from 22 to 24 June.

Salisbury art students will also have work displayed at The Young Gallery from 24 May until 4 July, giving members of the public another opportunity to see their creations.
Music performance and production students from Chippenham have already performed at gigs at The Ruze in Chippenham, while students from both Chippenham and Salisbury have appeared at shows at The Tunnels in Frome.
Chippenham will also host the Kandu Film Festival through the college’s long-standing partnership with Kandu Arts. The festival will feature films created by students alongside productions from the charity.
Meanwhile, Performing and Production Arts students in Salisbury recently staged two performances of Peer Gynt at Salisbury Arts Centre as part of a partnership with Wiltshire Creative.
Owain added, “It’s incredibly busy for everyone but it is exciting and we all enjoy it.”
Entry to all exhibitions and shows is free, although tickets must be booked in advance via www.wiltshire.ac.uk/events/
