The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership has announced that the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust will be its chosen charity for the current academic year.
“We have chosen this charity because of the excellent work they have led supporting disadvantaged children and also tackling discrimination,” explained Alun Williams, CEO of Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership and Headteacher of Writhlington School. “We live in a society where prejudice is still at large, often unseen and unreported. It is our duty in schools to do all that we can to educate children about right and wrong; to support children and our communities to understand why prejudice is so destructive and to help those who are disadvantaged.
“The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust has a long and deeply impressive record of supporting young people to achieve more than they thought possible. We want to support this work to grow, so that more communities and individuals can benefit from the support they offer. We know too, that our own work fighting prejudice and disadvantage in schools and the communities we serve, will be enhanced still further from a partnership with The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.”
The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership covers 26 primary and secondary schools across the Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Bath region, including St Mark’s and Beechen Cliff in Bath, High Littleton Primary, Midsomer Norton Primary and Writhlington Secondary School.
