Year 4 children from Oldfield Park Junior School in Bath have enjoyed a residential trip packed full of adventure at the award winning Mill on the Brue outdoor activity centre in Somerset.
Mill on the Brue provide activities that promote team building, independence, resilience, communication and most of all – fun. The Year 4 pupils experienced unforgettable outdoor activities, scaled heights, paddled the river and explored underground, in 25 acres of Somerset countryside.
On their first day, the children experienced archery and searching the river for wildlife, activities that require teamwork, sharp focus and resilience. Despite the rain, they wrapped up warm and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, The second day was just as exhilarating with high ropes, zip lining, climbing, canoeing and other adventures, completed with an evening disco full of games and dancing.
The final day of the trip had den-making, campfires and even a hot chocolate complete with marshmallows! The children glowed with florescent face paint and absolute joy after a fun-filled few days outdoors.
Dave Goucher, Executive Headteacher of Oldfield Park Juniors, said, “Residentials are an integral part of our curriculum and help the children experience new things, in a totally new environment outside of the classroom setting.
“We are so grateful for Mill on the Brue, they provide such an enriching experience for all children and it has ensured that our Year 4s have invaluable experiences to take them through the rest of their school journey and beyond.”
