Downside School is celebrating a successful set of GCSE results, with 78% of all grades awarded at A*/B, and almost a quarter of grades at A* standard. This includes impressive results in physics (71% A*/A grades), history (63% at A*/A), and maths (53% at A*/A).

Tae Hicks (, of Frome, was one of a number of pupils to achieve straight A*/A grades, whilst Gabriella Jackson, of Shepton Mallet, also achieved a set of high results with 9 A*/A grades; Lucy Pughe-Morgan was also delighted to have been awarded 8 A*/A grades.

Downside boys were equally impressive; Oscar Healey, of Bath, gained 10 A*/A grades, whilst another pupil, Constantino Secco scooped an impressive 11 A*/A grades.

Dr James Whitehead, Downside’s Head Master, has commented, “This was another cracking set of results for a hard-working year group who have benefited from the culture of aspiration we have developed at Downside.”
